Welcome!

On behalf of all the music ministers here at St. Patrick Parish, I want to thank you for being a member of our community and participating in our liturgy.  We have choirs and ensembles for various ages to help lead our assembly in prayer. I hope you’ll take the time to listen to these ensembles here at St. Patrick, and consider joining one yourself.

Our Music Ministers

Parish Choir is our largest choir, composed of adults and high-school-age students.  The Parish Choir (PC) leads the congregation in sung prayer. Our repertoire ranges from early Church music to traditional hymns to contemporary settings.  This ensemble sings at the 9:30 AM Mass. They also lead the Music Ministry at Christmas, the Easter Triduum, and for special feasts. Please contact the Director of Music Ministry to schedule a meeting if you are interested.

Schola is a small ensemble of advanced vocalists that sings on special feasts and in conjunction with the Parish Choir.  Schola (SC) sings challenging repertoire ranging from early polyphony to Gregorian chant, as well as modern choral works.  Excellent music reading skills are required; please contact the Director of Music Ministry to schedule an audition.

Youth Choir and Ensemble is for students in grades 8-12, both vocalists and instrumentalists.  The ensemble leads the congregation and learns additional contemporary and instrumental works to contribute to the liturgy.

Children’s Choir is for students in grades 3-8 who love to sing!  All children are welcome: participants need not have previous musical experience.

Cantors and Psalmists are the leaders of sung prayer at Mass, inviting the community to participate in the liturgy.  When a choir is present, the cantor may announce hymns and sing some verses alone, but with nine weekend Masses in English, the cantor often leads the congregation alone with the organist.

Cantors and Psalmists need to have excellent vocal skills as well as a profound prayer life, with a graciousness that welcomes all present to participate.  These vocalists should be committed to preparing for their duties both musically and prayerfully, with steady nerves and an ardent desire to elevate the singing of the community to the highest level of prayer.

St. Patrick Orchestra is an ensemble of skilled instrumentalists who support the congregation for Christmas, Easter, and other major feasts.  As many arrangements performed are originals, nearly all instrumentalists are welcome upon successful audition. Members should have studied their instrument for at least three years and be able to play all two-octave scales.
