Lazarus House is a year-round emergency homeless shelter and transitional living facility for men, women, and children.  The facility is located in downtown St. Charles.  St. Pat's volunteers are involved 2-3 times a month on Thursday evenings, providing the evening meal or assisting the staff overnight.  Each volunteer serves 1-3 times per year (or more if they wish).  This ministry is a great way to put our Christian faith into practice.

If you are interested in volunteering with Lazarus House Dinners, please contact Celeste or sign up for our next dinner here.

Overnight volunteers are needed urgently!

Can you help 1 night a month? 2 times a year?

On the same dates that we provide dinners: every 2nd, 4th, and 5th Thursday of each month we have an overnight volunteer that serves as a backup in the rare case of an emergency. A staff member will take you to the volunteer sleeping area when you arrive. Due to strict COVID protocol, there will be no interaction with guests or staff. The overnight volunteer shift is from 9 PM-7 AM. You will have accommodations that include a meeting table and chairs so that you can work if you wish, a sanitized room with fresh linens daily, snacks, a mini-fridge with cold drinks, and even a Keurig for a hot cup of joe.
